In reply to your letter of 18th instant, I am directed by the Honorable The Acting Governor to observe that he has no authority under the instructions of the Right Honorable The Secretary of State to permit any deductions from the amount to be remitted as proceeds of sale of clothing left in your charge by Mr. White, late Emigration Agent.
