THE TENTH EXTRA RACE MEETING WAS FEATURED BY SOME VERY GOOD RACING AND. ONCE AGAIN THE CLOSE FINISHES SPOKE VOLUMES FOR THE EXCELLENT WAY IN WHICH THE HANDICAPTER HAD DONE HIS WORK.
THE CROWD WAS BIGGER THAN THAT WHICH ATTENDED THE PREVIOUS MEETING AND AS A RESULT THE CASH SWEEPS WERE VERY WELL SUPPORTED, THE SWEEP ON THE LAST RACE (TICKETS AT TWO DOLLARS EACH) PAYING $3,363.00,
FIRST LEG OF THE POTENTATE AND KING'S CORONATION DEAD-HEATED IN THE
THE POTENTATE-VTRA COMBINATION DAILY DOUBLE WHILE VIRA WON THE SECOND LEG. PAID $22,20 AND THE KING'S CORONATION-VIRA BET RETURNED $34.40. MR. S. C. LIANG WAS THE SUCCESSFUL JOCKEY OF THE DAY, SCORING TWO WINS.
--- NULLAH HANDICAP. The afternoon's raging opened with a surprise win for Australian Boy Mr. B. L. Two who was followed by Saucy Face M.,H. C. Ph and Llanarmon (Mr. W. H. S. Davis), and with the favourite Racing Heart Mr. B. A. Proulx and second favourite Bag Tor Mr F Marshall) out of the race, the first pony paid $46.20 for a win while Elanarmon returned its backers $35.70 for a place bet!
The race was marred by an un- fortunate accident to the favourite. Racing Heart, which appeared to go lame just as it was passing the Press Box for the first time. Mr. Proulx
dismounted immediately and led the pony back to the stable.
Saucy Face set the pace for the race but it only "could keep this up till the home stretch when it was overtaken by Australian Boy who was well-ridden by Mr. Tao. Nearing the finish Saucy Face had to fight hard to stave off Lianarmon who was third, only a short head behind.

The closest race of the meeting was seen in the Sussex Handicap when Potentate (Mr. N. Deltz and King's Coronation (Mr. B. A. Proulx) dead-heated with Havoc Eve (Mr. F. Marshall) fliing the third position.
It was a very fine race with the held bunched together all the way and it was not till about 100 yards from home that the win- ners drew away from the rest of the field."

Mr. S. C. Lang. on rode one of his best races at the Valley when he won the Sub-" Griffins' St. Leger by four lengths from Shipmaster (Mr. D. Black) who was the same distance in front of Coronation Day (Mr. B. L. Tao).
There was nothing very much in
Arst the race-the two pontes leading all the way but Mr. Tao kept Coronation Day right behind until the field entered the home stretch when he gave the chestnut its head and the animal finished strongly to take third position.'

The Fremantle St. Leger provid ed Gypsy Love (Mr. B. L. Tao) with a fine win over Lancashire Chips (Mr. B. A. Proulx) while the only other pony in the race was Strathcarrick (Mr. D. Black), Home Brew, with MF W. B. S. Davis on the saddle, refused to start.
Strathcarrick set a scorching! pace for three parts of the race but it could not keep up, the tremendous pace and when the feld passed the Rock for the sec- ond time' Gypsy Love and Lanca-. shire Chips both passed her and there was no further change in the order of the field.

NORFOLK HANDICAP The last race of the day attract- ed eleven starters and when the feld came past the Press Box for the first time King's Parade (Mr. H. C. Fih) was leading with Good Moming (Mr. N. Deitz) and Atomic Star (Mr. Ip Kui-Ying) following closely, the rest of the field being bunched together about two lengths behind.
The same order obtained when the field came into the straight but when the Distance Post, was reached Tabby Cat (Mr. B. La Tao) forged steadily ahead and fifty yards from home It went in- to the lead to keep it till the Post. Meanwhile Yum Sing (Mr. W. C. Poy) and Racing Boy (Mr, S. C. Liang) had crept up on the leaders
