THEMSELVES ON THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB HAVE REASON TO CONGRATULATE ANOTHER VERY SUCCESSFUL RACE MEETING. THE ONE HELD YESTERDAY WAS FEATURED BY GOOD WEATHER, AN EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE AND WHAT IS "MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, THE VERE FEMY RACING PROVIDED-TO-THE-HUNDREDS OF RACE FANS WHO LINED THE RAILS TO WATCH EACH EVENT.
There were many other counter attractions, but race fans remained loyal to the King of Sport. There were no sensational dividends-testimony, such indeed is needed, to the ex- unfortunate vellout judgment of this handicapper. The day's sport was marred somewhat by an accident to Mr. O. B. Sadick, a novice jockey, who was thrown by Happy Venture, in the Paddock Handicap Fortunately, the injuries sustained by this promising Jockey were only slight.
Racing honours went to Messrs. H. C. Pih and N. Deltz, and the Dally Double combination of Tabby Cat and Plain View paid successful punters $ 32,10.
WYNDHAM KANDICAP
Jr. Norman Deltz rode ode of nis best races to date when he brought home Gladiator first in the Wynoham Handicap to beat the cavourite by a length.
Only four starters accepted for this race which was över six fur- longs. It was a somewhat difficult race to follow, due to the bigness of the feld-there were 15 starters but Mr. Pih kept his mount in a good position and when the deld came into the straight he gave Plain View its head and ahe finished with fine burst to gradually work her way up to the first place.

Smuggler Caught With 230lbs. Of Tobacco
were A. Malcom and Mrs. Basto.
Caught with 230 lb. of tobacco coming off the ss. Tal Shan, Ho Chi was brought before Mr. R. Edwards, at the Central Magis- tracy, on Saturday, charged with importing and possession.
He was given six months" hard labour and in addition fined $500 or a further al months in default. Senior Revenue Officer AW Grimmitt said this kind of smug- gling enabled tobacco to be sold at one-third the amount which would crdinarily have to be paid in duty, and an enormous profit accrued to the smugglers.

Spectacular Dash
The Navy scored a surprising win over the Club lat XV in a fast and exciting rugby encoun- ter at Causeway Bay on Saturday, the result being three goals and a try (18 points) in favour of "the Navy as against a goal and three tes (14 points) for the Club.
The Navy took their opponents by storm, and gave a fine, all- round display. They possessed a first-class full back in Knapman, whose Licking was impressive, and who provided a sensation when. after a breakaway near the close of the game he made a 45-yard dash down the line. Harvey was also a great asset to the Nayy, and was in a large way responsible for their success.
