Reception On "H.M.S. Daring

GREEN-MYERS

Lt. A. H. Green of the Royal Australian Navy, now attached to HMS. Daring. was married to Miss Naomi Myers, of Melbourne, at the St. John's Cathedral yes- terday afternoon

The ceremony was a very culet affair only brother officers of the bridegroom being present. The service was taken by the Rey, J. B. Evans, chaplain of the Dockyard Commander G. Barnard gave the bride away.

After the Church ceremony, a reception was held on H.M.S. Dar- ing at which a large number of officers of the Destroyer Flotilla were present.

As the newly-weds left the Ca- thedral, Officer-friends of the bridegroom from "H.M.S. Duchess and H.M.S.. Daring formed an archway of swords under which the happy couple passed.

As the bridal pair arrived in a motor launch they were greeted by the firing of crackers from a sam- pan lying alongside. The ship was prettily decorated and the party spent a convivial time.

To-day is China's National Day, popularly known as the Double Tenth Festival, marking the 16th anniversary of the Chinese Repub- lic and Chinese not only in the Colony, but in every part of the worlds is observing the occasion in time, honoured fashion.

Practically all the Chinese shops in the Colony have declared a holl- day. observing the occasion by entertaining their friends. The Chinese national flags and red ensign are flown side by side in many of the Chinese shops and bulldings.
