This hotel has three separate entrances, in the Rue Castiglione. the Rue du Mont Thabor, and the Dur de Rivoll.
These facilities should help the Duke and Duchess to escape in

The style of speaking affected in the Union then as now was of an esoteric brand, and Monckton soon detected the strain imposed upon the Prince by the necessity" of simulating an interest in the ora tory.

BRITAIN'S
UNEMPLOYED
Slight Rise Over Previous Month
London, Oct. 4.
The method of taking a count of unemployed has been revised and the latest figures are compiled on the new basis. allowance being
made in comparisons with earlier dates. The revision was under- taken with a view to ensuring greater accuracy. The Ministry of Labour provisionally estimates that. at September 13, the number of insured persons in employment in Great Britain, exclusive of persona within the agricultural scheme, was approximately 11 599,000.--
On a comparable basis there was a decrease of about 7,000 compared with the month before, but an in- crease of about 47,300 compared with the year before.
When the Duke of Windsor re- turns to Vienna. he will pay 3 visit to Professor Neumann, the famous Austrian ear specialist.
THE PRESIDENT AND
THE PRINCE One of the Duke's visitors in Paris will be Sir Walter Monckton. Sir Walter's friendship with the Duke of Windsor started twenty- four years ago at Oxford. Monck- ton was President of the Union.
The University authorities had suggested to the Prince of Wales
to the effect that no one would be offended if he wished to leave. The
Prince rapidly availed himself of the presidential indulgence.
Two days later Moncktori re- ceived an invitation to lunch from the Prince.
They met again two Or three times during the War. It was as a result of these early contacts that the Frince selected Monck- ton as his Attorney-General in
1932.
"Since the Abdication, Sir Walter has continued in his job at the Duchy and has become the chief liaison oficer between the King and the Duke.
