to the charge of striking: I know I was drunk but I knew what I was doing and I fully Intended to do it?

DRANK WHISKY

Asked why he wanted to strike. his superior officer he replied that he.did not wish to speak of that. at the present time.

After the reading of the circum- stantial letter accused pleaded guilty and, in mitigation, his de- fending officer read a statement to the effect that accused had been drinking whisky on the night" in question. This was not his usual drink and he became very drunk.

He got out of a rickshaw at the Fleet Accommodation Building

when he was not fully responsible tor, nor aware of. his actions.

Seeing the Stoker Petty Officer in that condition brought to a head the feeling of resentment he had over. two previous incidents. One was a slight disturbance at the Pandora's dance in which he was involved, and the other Was a parade which accused had for- gotten to attend and for which he had been put on report."

NO MALICE

He did not bear the Chief Stoker any mulice but became despondent. over the incidents and had some drinks to get out of this frame of mind. He was extremely sorry for his breaches of discipline and for the striking and asked for leniency as he had borne a good character for five years and was at the be- Hotel.ginning of his Service career.
