An inquest into the circum- stances surrounding the death of Yuen Sze, a prisoner of the Vic- toria Gaol who died on September 13 was "heard yesterday at the Central Magistracy when Mr. S. F. Balfour sat as coroner assisted by a jury comprising: Messrs. R. C. Danenberg (foreman), D. Noronha, and Sung Shon-tir.
Mr. H. Barrett, Chlef Warder of the Victoria Gaol, said that the deceased entered the prison un Sept. 10 after being sentenced to serve a termi of 12 months' impri- sonment with hard labour. He en- tered the hospital on Sept. 13 and died on the same day.

Dr. G. Ingram Shaw: Medical Omeer in charge of the Victorlu Gaol, raid that the deceased was Arst seen by him on Sept. 11 and his condition then was very poor as he was suffering from chronic tuberculosis. On Sept 13 he was admitted to hospital, but death oc- curred on the same day. After a post-mortem, which was conducted Thursday, September 23: Classes A the day after the death. It found that death was caused by chronic tuberculosis, lung abscess and malaria. The Jury returned a verdict of "death by natural causes."
