Mr. Soong On Sino-Japanese Struggle

Shanghai, Sept. 2. Mr. T. V. Soong, who is leading the drive for the sale of five hun- dred million dollars worth of Liberty Bonds, expects that all will be taken up within three months.

Interviewed, Mr. Soong said that besides dash. gold Rnd silver securities and jewellery was flow-. ing into a dozen banks where the value was determined and bonds issued accordingly.

Mr. Soong expressed the opinion that China 13 doomed to a long and bitter struggle, but předicted that she will eventually be vic- torious. He said that peace would come when Japan realised that she is in a lane that has no turn- ing. Even before the war Japan's finances were tottering under the burdens of militarism and her huge expenditures now would merely accelerate the inevitable, and she is destined to find that China Is

morass in which Japan's armies. will sink further as they drive in- land.-- Renter

MORE POSITIVE

POLICY

Recommendation By The

Seiyukai Party".

London, Sept. 2.

A message from Tokyo states. that a full inquiry into the objeci tives of Japan's action in Chins and the clarification of the Government's purpose was recom- mended at a meeting of the Selyukal (Conservative) Party by three of its lenders. Who urged the Farty to press the Government to make its aims in "China more precisely known and to establish the fundamental national policy in accordance with the firmly de- fined objective, as, otherwise, they declared, it was impossible to have a perfect policy - regarding the handling of troops, military opera tions, finance and national econo- my and the Japanese people's minds would not be at rest.

The recommendation sounds critical, but is believed to imply a demand for a more positive policy towards China.---- Reuter
