Shanghal, August 25. A graphic story of the fighting at. L'on Forest Fort on August 23 and the complete annihilation of a Japanese brigade which suc- ceeded in landing in the Woosung vicinity was released by Chinese quarters here "to-day.
Following the landing of the brigade along Paoshan and Chuanshaha north of Woosung Fort, the Japanese pushed on to- wards Lotienchen. At the same time around 700 marines sudden- ly appeared near Lion Forest Fort further north and converged on the same town.
The small detachment of Chinese troops guarding the town put up a stubborn fight but being outnumbered, were forced to re- treat. The Japanese occupied Shengchlachen and Yuchpuchen and began immediately to erect defences around the villages.
