Strengthen your body against Feverish Diseases
The chance of catching malaria and other fever- ish diseases is far greater, if the power of resist- ance in lowered. Lack of minerals in the body usually causes this lowering. Tiredness, heart troubles, irritability and dizziness are signs that your power of resistance is below par. Prevent serious trouble by taking Kalzana tablets regularly. Kalzana replenishes the mineral content of the body and blood cells in a I perfectly natural way, strengthens the whole system, and so prevents serious infectious diseases, such as malaria, skin rashes, etc,

IMPORTANT SCHEME
JAMALPUR
AT
The Ladian Railways in 1935-36 may be said to have been on a dead centre. On the one hand, though the tide was showing signs of turning, six years of trade depression still exercised "a cramping control on' development' of all kinds; on" the other the “shadow of the approaching inauguration of Federsi Government, with its inevitable remodelling of the central Railway Admini tration, has lately made any serious modification of existing methods waste of time and energy.

It is now twelve years since the pances of the railways were se- parated from the General Budget of the country, a step which en-.. sured that rallway maintenance, would be the first charge ou rail- way revenues. The arrangement then laid down that the surplus which remained after paying de- preciation and capital charges, should contribute in the first place | 1 per cent on the capital and a

43,000 MILES OF LINE
Yet, although in 1935-36 the carnings ware not sutilcient to pay in full the required 4 per cent. on the capital at charge, the position of the railways might well move less fortunate systems to envy, An administration controlling 43,000 miles of line, with a capital of ap- proximately £592,000,000 worked at a cost equivalent to 72 per cent. of the gross receipts, has certainly nothing to be ashamed of in these days,' particularly as the working cost includes a large contribution to the depreciation fund, a con- tribution fixed for the year at one-sixtieth of the capital at charge or. in other words, just under 10 millions,
It is due to this that the interest could not be paid in full from re- venue, but actually no JORS Was involved as the amount of the de- fcit, about 3,000,000, was taken from the depreciation fund; which really means that the net payment to that fund was 7 millions in- stead of 10 millioris, and as about that amount was spent from the fund during" the year on replice- ments and renewals, the balance therein actually increased by a. very small amount. On the other hand, the sum borrowed from the fund during the six years of de- pression has now grown to about 24 millions, in addition to the 19 millions already mentioned as owing to general revenues trum non-existent surpluses. It seems likely that the new Federal scheme will wipe out these obligations, in- curred through a too 'optimistic view of the future.

In these circumstances it is hardly surprising that railway Construction is almost at a "stand- till A mile and a half of broad and 109 miles of metre-gauge were, opened during the year, and a further 83 miles of metre gauKO was under construction...
