ROYAL NAVY
MEDITERRANEAN CRUISE
The Autumn, cruise, of the Mediterranean Fleet, under the command of Admiral Sir Dudley Pound, will begin on August 24, and will be chiefly to ports in the Estern Mediterranean. The Fleet, except the battle cruisers Hood and Repulse, will spend most of October at Alexandria, after visit- ing Famagusta, Cyprus.
The bulk of the Fleet will return to Malta from Alexandria on Octo ber 20, but the flagship Warspite is not due back until November 8. A feature of this cruise will be the Inclusion for the first time of the flotilla of motor torpedo-boats which has just joined the station. During October these boats, will visit Limasol, Famagusta, Haifa, Alexandria, the Gulf of Mirabella, 'Suda Bay, and Navarin Coat
8th FLOTILLA COMMAND
Captain Harold Hickling is ap- pointed from July' 30, to H.M.6. Duncan as Captain (D) of the 8th Destroyer Flotilla, China Station. in succession to Captain R. 3. Benson. Captain Hickling was a cadet at Osborne and Dartmouth in 1905-09. and during the War served as a lieutenant of the Olasgow at Coronel, the Falk- landa, and Juan Fernandez; the Lowestoft in the Mediterranean; and, after specializing, as gunnery officer of the Commonwealth. He graduated at the Staff College In *1920.
WAR-BUILT SLOOPS H.M.8. Rosemary is to be brought up to standard notice on comple- tion of her present refit at Ports mouth, H.M.S. Foxglove is to be taken in hand for docking and re- fit in March, 1938, and brought up to standard notice on completion. These are two of the five remain- ing vessels of the numerous *"flower" class sloops built in the War for minesweeping and genera! duties, and although now well over 20 years old they may be use- ful for subsidiary service in an emergency...
