Orders For $50,000,000
Japanese Goods Cancelled
Owing to the tensity of the situation between China and Japan, the Chinese merchants of Hong Kong have gradually ceased order- Ing Japanese, goods, and therefore, the losses of the Japanese manu- facturers are most heavy and difficult to estimate.
Judging by information gathered from the local Chinese Piece Good Guild, it is revealed that since the North" China troubles, or ders for Japanese piece goods amounting to $50,000,000 have been cancelled, these orders having been given before the outbreak of host- ilities in North China.
These orders for plece 'goods have now been transferred to Bri- tish and American firms and mannfacturers, and it is reported that home-made place goods from Shanghal are also finding brisk market in Hong Kong and South China-Chinese Evening Presz...
ARMY MOVEMENTS
Shanghai, Aug. 10,
It is reported that the Chinese Army will be ready to take the offensive in a week's time. It is said that the objective of the Chi- ese Army will be Felping, Tsingtao and Shanghai. The Japanese troops in Jehol, Charhar and Man- churia are thoroughly mobilized and ready for war with both China and Russia. It is also stated that the Japanese Army will attack by three routes, viz Pelping-Hankow, Pelping-Sulyuan and Tientsin- Pukow.-

JAPANESE LEAVE FOR HANG CHOW
Nanking, Aug. 10. The Department of Foreign Affairs has received a telegram from Hangchow stating that the Japanese Consulate star and citi- zens of Hangchow have all left for Shanghal.

Shanghal, Aug. 10. It is learned that all Japanese warships in the different Yangtze River Inland ports have received orders to assemble at Shanghai to- day and to-morrow according to plan, and place themselves under the orders of the supreme Japan- ese Naval Command- Chinese Evening Prem.

It is reported that Japanese and Chinese troops started fighting at Chinghal and Lianghalang yester day afternoon. Although the Chi- nese troops stoutly resisted the Japanese attacks, they were re- peatedly bombed by the Japanese war-planes and suffered accord- ingly.

Berlin, Aug. 10. Dr. H. H. Kung, Chinese Finance Minister, arrived here to-day from Paris, and was met by Herr Von Schimleden, Chief of the Far Eastern Bureau at the Foreign Office. Escorted by a cruiser and six destroyers, Signor Benito Musso- ini arrived in his yacht "Aurora" this morning to attend unusually important military manoeuvres to test as to what extent the military forces of the island of Stelly could resist invasion in the event of war. The theoretical Invaders will use the new type of barges and attempt to land 16,000 men in the rocky coast during the night.

Four hundred aeroplanes are participating in buze night manoeuvres in the southern part of England including London: 176 bombers are opposed to nineteen fighter squadrons, Over thirty raids were carried out last night and points were apparently successfully attacked. For the better protection of young persons, the Reich Minister of Justice. Dr. Guertrer, has de- creed the establishment of special "Youth Protection Tribunals" which will have the task of dealing with sexual offences against chil- dren and young persons up to the. age of 18, as well as with cases of maltreatment, serious infringe- ments of laws relating to preser- vation of health and conditions of work, and all other illegal acts cal- culated to endanger youth either physically or morally.
Ina preamble to the decree it is stressed that it will be incumbent on the publle prosecutor in pro- ceedings before the new tribanals to demand severe punishment for all those who are proved guilty of
