BRITISH
SHIPYARDS
Despite the fact that some Chinese Included In Exports
have an exaggerated sense of their military, capabilities as the result of the marked improvements in their army since 1931, responsible politicians realise that the time has not yet come for an actual test of arms, writes E. T. Huang in the "Malaya Tribune.”

Credits Scheme -
Financial help is to be given to shipbuilders to prevent British ah pyards losing work.
This offer was explained by Mr. R. S. Hudson. Secretary for Over- seas Trade, when the Bill to extend guaranices from export credit £25,000,000 to £50,000,000 came before the House of Commons,
Hitherto shipbuilding has not been included in the export credits scheme. Now that restriction is to be removed, credits will only be granted to shipbuilders if there is reason to think that any

OWNERSHIP OF BASQUE
STEAMER PROBLEM
Captain's Claim
An application by the owners of the Basque steamer Cobetas, now at Belfast, to restrain her captain from receiving. £8,460, balance of freightage due for a cargo of grain from the River Plate, purchased by Messrs. R. and H. Hall, Ltd., Belfast. WAS heard in Ulster Chancery Court recently.
Mr. Arthur Burke, Spanish Consul and agent for the steamer said that the captain claimed that the steamer did not belong to her previous owners, as the Basque Government had made an order rationalising all ships belonging to the port of Bilbao. Messrs. Hall were in the position of stakehol- ders. They had to pay the freight- age, and were willing to pay it, but wanted to know to whom was to be paid.
Mr. Justice Megay granted an interim injunction restraining the
But one thing is certain. China will not tolerate any further in- fringement of her sovereign rights. If she is provoked to a degree be- yond endurance, she will have to resort to self-defence. Then, as Marshal, Chiang pointed .out, "There shall be no looking back. It is better to be a broken jade than to be a tilè in its entirety."
On the other hand, Japan can- not be too sure of her adventure. She has her own problems to Her financial instability tackle. and her recent political upheavals are too important to be overlooked. Furthermore, she is not certain as to what for international reac- tion will take. LONDON CAMERONS
The word has gone round Lon- don on a suggestion from Glasgow- that it is time the Capital had a Clan Cameron Association of its | own, and already, it is understood, over 100 of that name have agreed to become members. Formal in- auguration of the movement took place recently, and Cameron "of Lochiel's son was there to meet his fellow-clansmen. It is said that there are more Camerons here than in Glasgow or Edinburgh, and as arrangements are being made to start branch organisations throughout the Empire and the United States-New Zealand and Australia 'have given a lead-it is considered important that those of the clan in London, should no longer delay, in getting together. One of the aims of this growing "gathering of the clan" in scheme to secure that the ancient territories now held by the Chief in Scotland will not pass into the hands of strangers, but will be re- tained in perpetuity for the family:
