JAPAN'S SHIPPING

DEMAND

Loddon, Aug. 4.

The demand" from Japan for British ships on time charter is a of feature of the shipping market. onThe "Times" says that two ships had taken up to yesterday 3 months trading in the Far East at rates respectively of 101 and 11 shillings.

Furthermore Japanese Imports of iron and steel from the continent and India and enormous quantities of scrap from America have re- cently been the heaviest.
