The Japanese papers mention fresh arguments to prove Man- choukuoan sovereignty over the two islands of Kanchatzu and Chinamuho, an issue which is left for settlement by future diplomatic negotiation. In the maps made by the Russian Government in 1908: and in 1918, the shipping routes are marked on the North side of both islands, and not on the Bouth side.

Another fact mentioned is that when in 1922 White Russians. driven by the Reds from Russian territory, took up their position at Chinamuho and attempted to attack the Reds across the river, the Dis-Soviet authorities addressed an official Note to the Chinese chief of the Heiho district, protesting against his connivance at the presence on Chinese territory of a group of plotters against Soviet Russia and asking him to clear the island of these White Russians without delay. In compliance, the Chinese authorities took steps to disband the group of White Russians..
