IN FILM INDUSTRY

A ware of acute and increasing anxiety overtaking the Britian dlm industry. It began recently with the report that Mr. W. C Crocker, the insurance solicitor, had been appointed to investigato on behalf of Lloyd's underwriters, recent heavy losses in production.

It is affirmed that Mr. Crocker is definitely engaged in such an in- vestigation, and that he has visited several Wardour-street offices, at the same time, it is emphasised that, the examination into claims agains: underwriters is purely ex- ploratory and protective.

While it is true that several film companies have survived the re- cent crisis and now tuve every prospect of showing profits the fact remains that the financial aairs of certain others are not inaccurately described as being in in "an unholy mess." THE CAPTAIN'S KID

A mischievous little girl with a vivid imagination, a lovable old llar and a crotchety spinster get into a sea of trouble that makes for much hilarity in the First National comedy drama, "The Captain's Kid," which comes to the King's Theatre to-day. The plcture largely a swift moving frole of fun, also combines meio- dramatic thrills, romance and touches of pathos.

"The Captain's Kid" is enacted by a talented cast with May Rob- son, famous for a half a century on the stage, in the leading role, that of a crabbed old maid who

the concern of all producers, for the whole British industry, may be affected by his findings.

Leading and reputable producers were unanimous on two points: in the first place, they hoped that the result of Mr. Crocker's examination | would not lead to a further wea- kening of credit for "bona fide" de- mands; and, in the second, they emphasised their desire that the financing of producers who have proved themselves should cease. Certain sections of Inefficient

the trade blame the City for their readiness in the past to provide Anance to producers of unknown capability.
