We learn from a reliable source that the Ming Tak Steamship Company has bought the ss. Kwong Fook Cheong... formerly on the Kongmoon run. The vessel had.
been laid up for over a year but it was stated that she will be again placed on the same service.
Built by the Kwong Fook Cheong Dockyard, the same yard which had turned out the Chuen Chow, Lee Hong and other, fine..river boats, the Kwong Fook Cheong is registered in Hong Kong. It has a length of 169.21 feet, beam of 28.25 feet and depth of 10.8 feet. The tonnage is 800.93 tons: gross and 537.87 registered and the speed is approximately 9 knots.
She was sold by auction at Messrs. Lammert's rooms and Wednesday competition was keen amongst the bidders, the price being quickly raised from $34.000 to $38,000,

The Sydney drm of W. R. Car- penter and Co., Ltd, which has extensive Interests in the Pacific island, has placed an order with Bartram and Sons, Ltd., Sunder- land, for a cargo steamer of about 9300 tons, for use in the pany's service between Australia, the Islands, and Europe. The new vessel will provide accommodation for a limited number of passen- grs. Delivery is expected from the builders about July, 1838.
The addition of the new vessel will enable sailings to be made at regular two-monthly intervals.
