MALAYA AND RUBBER PRODUCTION
Mr. Ormsby-Gore, Secretary of State for the Colonies, and Lady the Beatrice Ormsby-Gore were guests of honour at the annual dinner of the Association of British Malaya, at the Hotel Victoria, states the "Times." Mr. J. G. Hay, president, was in the chair."
The King, in a telegram, expres- sed his sincere thanks and that of the Queen for the loyal assurances and good" wishes of members of the association,
In submitting the toast of "The Prosperity of British Malaya" the Chairman welcomed the presence
of the Yang di-Pertuan Begar of Negri Sembilan and the Sultan of Pahang. and congratulated them. as well as those who advised them on the tranquil and prosperous conditions existing in the States over which they ruled. In Mr. Choo Kia Peng, accompanied by his wife, and Mr. Tan Cheng Lock they had two worthy representa- tives of the Chinese Community in Malaya. Progress, towards recovery in Malaya had undoubtedly been hastened greatly by the operations
of the tin and rubber schemes.
