Five hundred Basque refugee children broke away from the camp near Southampton' to- night when news was broadcast that Bilbao was reported to have fallen.

The children were seized with mass hysteria and stampeded in the surrounding woods some taking table knives with them. The ambulance and police were rushed scene and 350 children were rounded up but volunteers are conducting a night long torchlight search in the hope of round- ing up the remaining 150 children.-Reuter.

Apparently after the announcement was made known that Bilbao had fallen many of the Basque boys in the camp felt that they must return to Spain to assist their parents and relatives. Captain Macnamara, Joint Secretary of the Camp," stated that after the news became known two hundred children became over-excited while others preferred to cry secretly.
