The indusies afected by the proposal have been informed and the whole question is being aired in the newspapers, which snow some hostility to the American suggestions.
The papers say that the whole discussion will outlast the Imperial Conference since the alterations in trade relationships would be of a far-reaching and fundamental character, and the Imperial Conference is only of a consulta- tive capacity.
The question is complicated by the indebtedness of the Dominions to the Mother country and debt service payments compel, Britain to accept a disproportionate share of Dominion" exports alone to satisfy these requirements.
