I met Sir Charles Vyner Brooke, the only Waite Rajah in the world. again at the Raffles Hotel and had a short chat with him shortly before lunch time, writes 3 "Malaya Tribune" correspondent.
Sir Charles Is, of course, the Rajah of Sarawak, and spende half his time in the Country under his rule, and the other, "on board a P. and O." as he himself puts it.
Like his wife the Rance, Sir Charles travels a good deal and Singapore is no stranger at all to him. Though 83 years of age now, Sir Charles looks very hale and hearty and was in good spirits when he left a few friends at the table and came up to where I was waiting.
"I sorry to be disturbing you," I apologised, "but we would like to know a little of your plans." "Plans? Well I am going straight or to England, and com- ing straight home in September. That is all,"
Sir Charles said that he was go- ing to join his wife and daughters in England.

I asked Sir Charles if in the course of his travels he had visited Hollywood, and if so how his opin- lon compared with that of the Rance's.
"DON'T LIKE HOLLYWOOD", "No." he said. "I have never been to Hollywood. I don't like the place either. But I have my own cinema at home."
Sir Charles mentioned that his daughter, Valerie, went to England
a few weeks back.

"The Joke is they think it's an aristocratic English word, where- as the fact is that the English. charwoman or dustman can hard- ly bear to leave 'definitely' out of a sentence," he declared.
Mr. Funk also selected the 10 most beautiful words in the lan- guage. The chosen words were: dawn, hush, fullaby, murmuring, tranquil, mist, luminous, "chimes, golden and melody.
