A cadet leaves the College at about 20 or 21 years of age, and after serving as a Pliot Officer for a year or 50, with pay of 11s & day. rising to 14s 6d, becomes # Flying Officer at 18s. 2d a day. At this stage he qualifies for a mar ringe allowance, bringing his total income from the service to £520 2 6d a year. After two years the pay rises to 21 0s 106 a day.
