Reasons why 'MANSION' is so economical
Mansion being a highly concentrated war poffen, only very little is desded to give a mirror-like brilliance, to a large door surface.

Queen Mary's Gold And
- Silver Gowns
Both the gleam of gold and the softer sheen "of allver appear in the glamorous gowns for the Coronation and the outstanding ceremonial events associated with the occasion writes a correspond ent in the "Dally Telegraph.”
A beautiful gown that the Queen will' wear at one of the "Courts is
of gold cloqué with a high plastron In the front of Ane embroidery in gold and pearls,
Queen Mary, as those who see her on great ceremonial occasions know well has a personal liking" for the gown of silver, Thla sulta her colouring, her eyes and "the fair hair that time has now silvered.
She is to wear a golden lamé gown, of rare beauty and magni- fcence, at the Coronation, however, so I understand. This dress is da- corated with lovely embroidery.
SILVER ENSEMBLE
Sliver is her choice for the Lord Mayor's banquet. This gown also will be one of artistic beauty as well as appropriate splendour, and will have a clock of silver to match.
Possibly for the Coronation Ball her choice will fall on the golden lamé Coronation dress.
These are marvellous days in the London dressmaking showrooms, where the most highly skilled craftswomen of the dress world are stitching day by day on the crea tions that will become in due course treasures in the history of costume.

ANKLE-LENGTH FOR PRINCESSES
One important consideration has been that of the length of the skirts Royal children of other days, have appeared on State occasions in trained gowns, but practical considerations have been allowed
to prevall and the decision is that the King's little daughters shall have skirts that stop short at the ankle.
'HANDBAGS MATCH ROBES
The problem of a pochette or handbag suitable for the occasion. and matching Coronation robes is being solved by different peeresses in different ways.
Lady Desborough Is having. а flat pochette of deep red dull sux- faced satin embroidered for her in bright gold. It will bear her Countess's coronet, her initials and a floral border, and will be lined with silk matching and fastened with an unobtrusive clasp.
Red velvet pochettes quilted. with gold, just large enough to contain a tiny handkerchief, pow- der-case, comb and smelling salts. are being chosen by some of the younger peeresses for use in the Abbey.
ROYAL LODGE.
There have been many rumours regarding the future of Royal Lodge, the charming home that the King and Queen have made at Windsor. I understand that their Majesties have decided to keep this pleasant little country house on which they have lavish- ed so much care and thought dur-" ing the last few years.
It is a real home in every sense... of the word, where the simple fe can be lived when escape from the.. cares of States is possible.
YORK COTTAGE KECALLED King George will not be the first sovereign to enjoy the ownership of a country "cottage" by way of contrast to residence in castle and palace.
His father and Queen Mary kept their much-loved home at Sand- ringham-York Cottage-for 15 years after they became King and Queen, During the years after they became King and Queen. During the years from 1910 to 1925 the chatelaine of Sandring- ham House was Queen Alexandra. and King George the Fifth Queen Mary went
regularly during that period to their cottage, where all their children, with the exception of the Duke of Windsor, were born.
Quite the latest in formal wear is shown by Gegilid Pärker, Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer player, in her new dreas created in white organdie "and jeaturing full skirt banded with tiny strips of black patent leather. The high bodice i draped from ahnulder Line Diagonal patent strips also adorn the short puffed streres, with a narrow bel! of organdie loops at waistline.
