Air Bombing At Bilbao Harbour
Bilbad, Apr. 30. Bombs fell all around four Brl- tish cargo boats in harbour here to-day when. 15 insurgent bombing planes, apparently German, cai“ ried out an air raid lasting a quar- ter of an hour. Not one of the vessels was hit although spray from falling bomba splashed them. "I thought our number was up when they came straight for us.". said the member of the crew of one of the freighters afterwards.
The Insurgent cruiser Espana had previously sent out a wireless warning which was picked up at St. Jean de Luz, that British mer- chantmen would be, "sure to be bombed or machinegunned if they ventured within Bilbao harbour. This warning is considered to in- dicate that raiders deliberately sought out the British "vessels as their targets.
Meanwhile, 22 bombers, alleged. ly German, accompanied by six purault planes, ralded Galdacano in the afternoon, dropping high explosive and incendiary bombs. Twelve houses caught fire and were destroyed. The woods around were also set afre.
M
The planes machine-gunned the inhabitants. Including women and children, as they fed in alarm. Reuter.

LONDON BUS STRIKE
Critical Stage Now Reached

London, April 29- While negotiations to avert" a London bus strike has entered a critical stage, the country, is now faced with the possibility of simultaneous strike by many thousands of busmen in the home counties. With only twenty-four hours' re- maining before the London bus strike decision becomes operative the mens' leaders have again been summoned by the Ministry of La- bour, following a two-hour conter- ence between Leggett and the Gov- ernment mediator, Lord Ashfeld and his colleagues on the London Transport Board.
