Arrangements for the ceremony at Queen's Statue Pier in connection with the departure of His Excellency, the Governor and Lady Caldecott on Friday were announced from Government House yesterday as follows:-

Guests arriving by car 'are respectfully informed that no cars will be permitted to drive up to Queen's Pier after 10.45 a.31.

The route of His Excellency will be lined by troops from Govern- ment House-Helena May Institute -Garden Road-Queen's Boad~~ Jackson Road-to Junction with | Connaught Road. No traffic will be permitted 'on or across this route after 10.45 a.m.;..

Cars may be parked in Con- naught Road (between Jackson and Murray Roads) and in Chater Road cast of Jackson Road.

No parking will be permitted in Jackson Road or Wardley Street north of the Statue.

GAS MASKS FOR LONDONERS

The new gas-mask' store at Al- perton, on the North Circular Road was recently inspected by Mr. Gecarey Lloyd, the Parliamentary Under-Becretary for Home Affairs, and by, Wing-Commander E. J. Hodsall of the Air-Precaution De- partment, and is the first of Lon-"- don's three "Regiorial Depots.".

This great store is already equip ped with all the necessary. steel frames for holding the rubber face- pieces, and the metal filters, and actually contains 760,000 of them.

The other two stores are at St. Mary Cray, and Enfield, and a spe- clat detail of their equipment is the hermetically sealed cases in which these rubber face-pieces must be kept. A precaution neces- sary owing to the perishable na- ture of rubber goods.

The magnificent new Queen Mary Hospital, erected in one of the most beautiful and bealth giving spots in the world, was officially opened by His Excellency the Governor. Sir Andrew Caldecott, K.OMG, CBE, yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large and distinguished gathering, representaifve of all 'sec- tions of the community in Hong Kong. His Excellency was ac- companied by Lady Caldecott and attended by Capt. W. LB. Crate, A.D.C.N

This function marked one of the last public appearances of His Excellency the Governor who is leaving the Colony on Friday.
