If Gossip We Must LONDON

(BY TATLER)

Quite e best party of the year was given by Erik Nelson at his fat at the Kowloon Magistracy on Sunday night.

His original invitation to "as- semble in any garb, to eat and drink and criticise the artist's ink, to shake the legs and fry, some Cars"

was accepted by quite 170 people and as one's taxi swept up to the entrance of the seat of justice one was greeted by the glow of Chinese lanterns, the sparkling splutters of braziers and the cheering smeli of trying saushgea and bacon.

The caricatures which decorated the walls were of outstanding vir- tuosity. The genial gubernatorial | smile no less recognisable than the profile of our local First Sea Lord Dreadnaughts hung side by side

with

nymphs errant and other-

and

Naval officer who prepared our eggs, sausage and bacon. The superb wireless and our host at the plans provided excellent music and everybody danced on well past midnight. Mrs. Waymouth Mrs. McKean were amongst those whom we saw dancing. Mrs. Jupp and Mrs. Cavanagh Mainwaring left early to everyone's regret as did the Misses Kotewall who were due to help entertain the Mayor of Canton,

The Misses Simmonds were ob-

to inspiration

the vlously amateur culinary volunteers.

There was much anticipatory about the forthcoming gossip S.P.C. Charity Ball which is fixed for April and one enthusiastic saleswoman peddled tickets with great success

Villagers whose business takes them across from one side of the stream to the other are making use of this crossway dally. Not only do they use it for pedestrianz traffic, but they also carry heavy londs across it. Even European hikers, were seen to make use of this bridge last Sunday.
