From Johore. 590,287 tons DI iron ore were exported during 1938 compared with 485,067 in 1935, but the advance made in Trengganu is of much greater dimensions.
1933. Trengganu exported only 203,105-tons, but the follow- ing year the total had increased to $57.838-tona. In 1934, the ex- port had again expanded con- siderably. 657,498-tons being shipped., "In 1.935, the total despatch amounted to 817.334- tons, and in 1936, it had reached- the million mark, the figure being 1,654,548-tons.

One now being mined is at Bukit Langkap, on the cast bank of the Sungei Sembrong, a river 350-feet wide and which is easily navigable by tugs and laden barges. Another is in rather lower country, at Sambang a mile. or two from the Bungel Lenggor. which is also large enough to allow of tug and barge traffic. As no development work has yet been done. Stockholders of IXL Mining presenting bullion in transit and Company at their annual meeting held recently at the Manila Hotel ratified the recommendation of the board of directors to declare a stock "dividend of 50 per cent. Andres Soriano, president of the company, there-after announced that this dividend will be given to stockholders of record for March 30, 1937.
In a message to the stockholders Mr. Soriano gave an account of the progress of operations at the mine which have been constantly improving. Production for the Arst 15 days in March has been 3,494 tons with average heads of P20.40 and the extraction Has Im- proved during this period to aver 93 per cent. The company's net profit for January amounts to ap- proximately P85,000, and from the production figures of February the same result can be expected for that month.
