and a quarter miles) Five ponles accepted for this race with Commencement Bay firm favourite. Mr. Black fulfilled expectations and won with two lengths to spare from Rob Roy (Mr. N. Deltz, The third place was Alled by Centre Forward (Mr. S. C. Liang) with Scenic View Mr. S. Y. Liang) and Thunder Bay (Mr. S. L. Yuen) following in the order naivied.

Scenic View set the pace for the greater part of the race with the favourite always in close atten- dance. After the half-mile post was reached, however, Commence- ment Bay went into the lead which it kept till the end.

As soon as the gate went up Mr. Proulx sent his mount to the lead but he only kept this for about Atty yards as Boronia Belle soon overtook him to lead until the Dis- tance Post. It was at this stage that the favourite came through in splendid style to win comfort ably.

Mr. B. Yuen rode a great race on King's Justice in the Morrison Hill Handicap to win by a length from Rose Queen (Mr. N. Deltz) and Red Feather (Mr. D. Black) the hot favourite. Both Harvest View (Mr. 8. Y. Liang) and Dawn Star (Mr. Ip Kul-ying) command- ed a large number of followers but neither ran into a place. King's Justice, incidentally, paid handsome return of $191.90 for a

The race was a very close one til the last two hundred yards when the winner drow away from the rest of the field, showing a fine burst of speed in the process..
