Hollywood Etiquette.

What constitutes a Hollywood breach of etiquette?
There's one that only those TEACHING people intimately connected with the aim industry can answer.
As a matter of fact, Hollywood is a pretty lenlent corner of the world. People may use the wrong fork; upset vases of flowers, play practical jokes at the dinner table, or tell tall tales on the host and hostess, without anyone seeming to mind in the least.
Yes. Hollywood lets all the "more rosate rules for social behaviour go by the boards with no more than a side-long glance, but each player. Has his own set of rules that just mustn't be violated. A book of Hollywood Etiquette, classified in alphabetical order under the various names that comprise the film colony might not be at all out of order.
Not that the stars are finicky, not at all. But they, just like all other people in the world, have their own particular tender spots and it is a smart person who keeps theto all catalogued.
Here. "for the first time. Is the suggested form for such a catalo- gue.

The star role in this modern humordus romance is portrayed by
Doris Nolan, a vibrant new movie personality who formerly scored on the New York stage in "Night of January 16th." Her splendid acting talent is warmed by viva- clous youthful beauty, which screen tests demonstrated to be even more vivid for the films than It had proved previously on the stage...

When a youngster under eight- eeri years of
algned age is for his first part in a motion pic- ture, he reports immediately, not to the studio, but to the Los An- geles Board of Education.
For his schooling comes firs and his picture career comes second.
At the Board offices he takes an achievement test to show his exact school standing. That determines the instruction he shall receive from the teacher or teachers as- signed to the studio where he is to work. At the end of each semester he reports back to the Beard for another test. to show his progress.
And movie' children love these' tests," says Miss Mary MacDonald, who has charge of all contract children at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The tests give them a chance to show what they can do, and after 'all, that's why film youngsters are engaged, to show what they can do.

"Here at the studio we have none of the strict formal discip- line of large classes in the city schools, and the children appre- clate their freedom. To illustrate how they work, one of the students made up more than two years' work in the last "six months. Most of them have had average schooling for their age when they come, here, but individual atten- tion seems to give them a chance to advance auch more quickly.
"We have no disciplinary pro- blems. The children are kept busy and get pleasure out of achieve- ment. Literature, reading and music appreciation are the most popular classes.
