As from April 1 next the dues of the Suez Canal Company on laden vessels are to be reduced from 78. to 6s. a ton, on vessels in ballast from 3s. 6d. to 3s. a ton, and the passenger dues from 12s. 4d. to 6s. per head, states the "Times." The rates for loaded and ballast ves- sels, were lowered on July 1 last by 6d. and 3d. a ton respectively, so that the forthcoming reductions will be the second to be made well within a year. All the rates, which are charged on net tonnage ne- cording to the company's method of calculation, are" now based on sterling, with the exception of "those levied on Egyptian vessels.
