INDIAN VETERINARY CORPS A competitive examination will ce held at Lahore, beginning on May 4, to select candidates for ad- mission to the Indian Army Veterinary Corps as commissioned officers. There are 42 British veterinary officers on the Indian establishment, and in past years the Indian Corps has consisted of veterinary assistant surgeons in the ranks of risaldar major, riaal- dar, and Jemadar, with a small number of warrant officers.

NEW INSTITUTE AT CATTERICK The new St. Oswald's (Church of England) Institute at Catterick Camp was opened yesterday. It takes the place

Squadron Leader E.. R. C. Hobson DF.C., recently in command of No. 33 (Bomber? Squadron, one of those temporarily detached from home service for duty in the Pales- tine Command, has now taken command of No. 8 (Bomber) Squadron at Ismailla, in succes- slon to Wing Commander H. M. Massey, D.S.O., M.C., promoted in the New Year Ilst. Squadron Lea- der Hobson was appointed for air staff duties in the Middle East in June, 1934. He had previously been Instructor to Nos. 501 (City of Bristol) and 601, (County of Lon- don) Squadrons.
CIVIL NAVIGATORS' LICENCE
It should be noted, states a new order. that the 300 hours air ex- perience required as a qualification for the issue of the second class civil air navigators' Licence must be obtained as the pilot or navigator of an aircraft. All flying entered in the pilot's flying log-book un- der the headings of solo and dual, but excluding dual time taken to arat solo, counts as air experience. To claim this experience pilots should forward their flying log- books to the Secretary of the Air Ministry. The order also defines the R.A.F. navigational experience which will count in future towards |
