IN SCOTLAND

A letter from King George VI, Grand Master Mason of Scotland. written, when he was buke of York, was contained in a minute submitted to the Quarterly Com- munication of Grand Lodge in Free- masons' Hall, Edinburgh. The let- ter conveyed congratulations to all members of Grand Lodge on the excellent manner in which "their general arrangements were car- ried out for the recent bicentenary celebrations, and added: "I feel- sure that deputations and visiting brethren must have been greatly the not only with Morri-impressed

dignity and simplicity of the in- stallation ceremony but also with the friendly hospitality which they met on all sides."

Sir

Iain

Colquhoun, Acting Grand Master Mason, said that he had been asked by the Grand Master Mason to express to Grand Lodge, his thanks for their friend- ly welcome when he came to Edin- burgh and his deep and earnest congratulations on what he could only hope had been the magni- ficent success of the bicentenary: celebrations.

The new television Selee which was inaugurated in Alexandra Palace in London was thus the first of its kind in the world. At present there are two systems, the Baird and the 'Mar- coni E.M.I.
