House
The draw for another season's campaign for the Davis Cup was made at Admiralty House by Sir Samuel Hoare, First Lord of the Admiralty and president of the Lawn Tennis Associa- tion. states the "Times."
In yet another historic setting the brief ceremony, with its winter memories of midsummer days, was much what it has been in past years the attendance of diplomatic representatives of the 24 challenging nations, the whirring of cameras, the shuf- fling of names la the massive how that so many have striven for and so few won; but a question that must have been in the minds of many of those present was whether this might not be the last time "the draw would be held in London, as the capital of the holders, for many a year.
Sir Samuel Hoare, after a cor- return of dial reference to the Italy to the competition, took an optimistic view of Great Britain's chances. It did not in the least tean. be said, that because F. J. Perry had gone we were depress- ed or nervous about the success of the 1937 team.
The draw was made in the fol- lowing order:—

Here again, the draw for positions at the starting gate is of importance. With the course dry and in excellent condition, I expect the race will be run in faster time than has been the case heretofore for this class of ponies.
OLD COURSE PLATE Many an old favourite in the "p" class will be out for honours in this race. The distance (14 miles) may be the undoing of some of the entrants but Pride of Tsing- tao, Gold Cuin, Laughing Buddha and
Wadebridge appeal most. Night View has been galloping well but the weight may prove a little too much. Sylvandale will be rid- den by Mr. Frost and if the race is run in slow time, this chestnut will be hard to catch in the last quarter.

cause experience stands for so much in this international cham- plonship. It has been abundantly shown that no nation can hope to keep on winning with a succession of new players, however skilled they may be. There will be plenty of competition for Perry's place, though the choice, does not seem wide. The Davis Cup is by no meats lost yet.
It seems reasonable to suppose that either the United States or British Australia will meet the team in the Challenge Round, and of the two the United States, with a finer Budge "presumably
