Dartmoor As A National Park
Duchy's Attitude
The suggestion that Dartmoor should become a National Park has not been favourably received by the Duchy of Cornwall authorit lea, who
are responsible for the administration of Dartmoor.
Mr Honey places the peak of the population in 1941, when ne estimates. It will be. 45.742,000, as compared with 44.795.300 in the 1931 census. By 1971 he estimates that the population will have fallen to 38,492,000,
"In my opinion," said Mr Hones. the estimates which I have put forward will only be materially falsified if the Government takes the most vigorous measures to en- 'courage a higher birth rate."

Coronation Decorations
The time set for the Coronation draws on apace, and it is essential that those who will wish to dis- play their loyalty then should be well prepared.
Actually there is not a great deal of time to spare for those who wish to take advantage of the ape- utal offers that are being made by British decoration specialists, and It is also requisite that they place their orders as quickly as possible in order that they may not be dis- appointed..
Fortunately, as we have said, it is possible to obtain parcels that Fnable quite nice displays to be made. and, as several ideas are shown as to how the material can be utilised to advantage, it is pas- sible to select one, that will suit any particular position.

PUBLIC AFFAIRS
These letters all deal with public affairs, but they are full of the character of Nelson. The valuable of them is probably one in which Napoleon and the siege of Acre are mentioned--"Buone- parte was shot in the leg... the siege is raised and the French are all dying of disease. thank This God, so perish all villainy.” is expected to fetch £80. Napoleon is mentioned elsewhere also. "I hope," Nelson wrote in November, 1802, "we shall have peace for the present, A long one with Buone- parte cannot be expected.", and, again. "I know no more of politicks than a newspaper, but it appears that Buoneparte is mounted on such a capering mad horse,

There is the advantage, too, that the cost is quite moderate-the price of the complete parcel being 12s. 6d-but that fact makes it all the more important that the order should be sent through without any delay.
Those who have the intention of making a somewhat more ambiti ous display will find that larger parcels can be arranged for. na well as schemes for displays on a big scale.

Mr. Harris suggested the follow- ing ways in which probation orders could be made to sult, not so much the offence as the offender:
