Lt. Berlyn Found Shot

A few days before he was to ro'on long leave to rejoin his wife and two young children in England, Lieut. Arthur Clände Berlyn, aged 29, of Plymodih, Deron, an officer on H.M.S. Rain- bow, which took part in the combined manoeuvres which ended on February 4, was found dead in his cabla on HMS. Medway, in Johore Straits near the naval base about three o'clock this afternoon, states the "Times of Malaya."

THE four main subjects confronting the Kuomintang as outlined by Mr. Wang Ching-wei, in his address at the inauguration ceremony of the Central Executive Committee this morning were:-Firstly; the recovery of lost territory and safeguarding of areas still under Chinese rule: Secondly; stabilisation of internal conditions, order in the national defence programme, and com- munist suppression campaign should not be delayed; Thirdty: the promotion of the economic re- construction programme; and Fourthly: the inauguration of a democratic government.

REVIEWING THE POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS SINCE THE LAST PLENARY SESSION HELD IN JULY LAST YEAR, MR. WANG - CHING-WE ASSERTED THAT INTERNAL UNITY HAS GRADUALLY BEEN ACHIEVED DESPITE SETBACKS. THE SIANFU CRISIS NEARLY DESTROYED THE GROUNDWORK OF NATIONAL SALVATION, BUT FORTUNATELY THE DANGER HAS NOW BEEN AVERTED. MR.
