In addition to the baitle of flo- wers there will probably be a faricy dress parade, a torchlight pro- cession and a fireworks display.
The day will begin with the sound of bells, for the churches with peals are to be asked to ring them simultaneously at a certain hour. During the morning there Is to be a united devotionar ser- vice in Meyrick Park, and after "hat the frolics will begin..
There are to be treats for the old

And Divorce
The Upper House of Convocation of the Province of Canterbury will meet for the dispatch of business in the Jerusalem Cham- ber, Westminster Abbey, on Wed- nesday, January 20, and following days, states the "Times". of Jan- uary 13. The Bishop of Gloucester will move a resolution approving of the re- port of the conference at Buchar est between the Rumanian Com- mission on Relations with the An- glican Communion and the Church of England Delegation appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury as being "fully consonant with Anglican formularies and a right- ful interpretation of the faith of the Anglican Communion."
The Bishop of Ely will move a resolution declaring that the House cannot approve the admission to Holy Communion of persona ́ who have remarried after divorce.
The Bishop of Winchester will present for discussion certain re- commendations of the Committee on the Church and Marriage relat- ing to the same subject; and in the event of the House. agreeing that it is advisable under certain conditions to admit a man or a wo- man to Holy. The Bishop of Chichester will move resolutions' commending the report of the Comission on Church and State to the study, of all Churchpeople, and suggesting the appointment of a joint committee to consider. GRANT TO DUKE OF WINDSOR MAY BE KEPT SECRET
The Duke of Windsor's name may not appear in the new Civil List.
Twenty-one MP3 representing. the Government and the Opposl- tion, and forming a Select Com- mittee on the Civil List, will have to decide shortly after Parliament meets to-morrow what grants shall be made to members of the Royal
i" Family.
Although the Duke of Windsor's Income will be discussed in secret by the Committee, it is doubtful any reference will be whether made to it, when the Civil List. comes before the House of Cam- mons.
When the Committee under ine chairmanship of Mr. Chamberlain, Chancellor of the" Exchequer, have considered the matter of royal grants, a report will be prepared and a B presented. This will be passed before the Coronation.
As the heir-presumptive Princess Elizabeth will receive an income of £25,000 when she reaches the age of eighteen. Her sleter, Prin- cess Margaret Rose will have an allowance of £6,000 a year,
If during the parliamentary dia- cussion on the Civil List Bill it should be asked what income the Duke of Windsor will receive, the Chancellor will probably rèply that adequate provision has been made privately.
This, I am told. will take the form of a grant from King George --who may decide to set aside fcr his brother part of the income derived from the Duchy of Corn- wall,

It seems that "from being a pre- mature he became a forgotten man." Scarcely anything' remains of his work in the nineteen-six- ties. The question, too, whether he was to be considered a humorist was never settled.
But since in his old age Mr. Wells Asserts that he was to be seen hobbling about, Regent's Park mut- tering, "Some day I shall write a a small Civil book, a' real book," the point. I
should say, was already decided.
