DEMAND FROM KANSU CHAIRMAN
Message Telegraphed To Nanking
Peiping, January 22.

The demand, these quarters revealed, was telegraphed by Gen. Yu to Gen. Han Fu-chu, Chairman of the Shantung Provincial Gov- ernment, for transmission to the Central Government.
Reports received here, indicated continued preparations oh the part of the recalcitrant forces.to oppose the advance by the Centrul troops.
Units commanded by General Yang Hu-chen, the rebel leader, and presently stationed around Stan, include: eight battalions of engineering troops; 11 regiments of artillery: four cavalry divisions; three regiments of special guards, und a gendarme battalion.
Strewn between Slan and the eastern border of the province are the 105th, 109th, 112th, 120th, and the 129th divisions of General Chang's troops.
