Mr. Williams, prosecuting said that the two charges against the accused were that he had carnal knowledge of a girl of 12 years of age on November 14, 1936, and for unlawfully harbouring the same gir from November 14 to 22.

The girl lived with her mother. She was born in Hong Kong, and although no oficial record was kept of her birth, it could be. proved by relatives.

On the evening of November 13, her mother gave her five cents with which to buy some red cloth. She did not return and enquiries were made,

Mr. Willams went on to say that it would be proved that the girl met a man that evening and they had talked for a few minutes after which she was invited to his premises. She was persuaded to remain overnight and the next day the man took her to another place in Kowloom.

In the Second Court of the Criminal Sessions yesterday, Mr. Justice Hayden passed sentence of two years' hard labour on Cheung Tin Loi who pleaded guilty to a charge that on November 8, last, together with three others not in custody at U Kwai Sha Village, Shatin, they robbed Wan Mao of $177.
