Harriman's Weekly Review

19th December 1998. Mesars, G. A Harriman & Co.'s weekly share report and market review Issued at noon to-day at- te:-

The past has been a quiet and rather featureless week in the share market, but quotations for local descriptions have been well maintained. and Manila shares al- though without much change, show slow, but sure improvement. The recent local liquidation Ad- víces from Manila, recommend purchases round present levels; we pass on similar advice to our rea-. ders, with the added recommenda- tion that producing

compantes shares are likely to prove the most profitable investment,

With the exception of Hong, Kong Electrics, taken at $54; util-' ity shares have been a somewhat dull market. China Lights (old) however were bought in fair hum- ber's from $12.50 up to $1275 clos- ing. Telephones (old) exchanged at $28 and now have buyers at this. The "New" shares were dealt in at $10. Star Ferries had sales at $93, and Sandakan Lights are up to $10 biď. But this figure falls attract sellers. Truma have small buyers at $13.10 after sales at $12.15.
