A soccer surprise during the week-end was the defeat of 8. China "A" by a confident Kowloon side while the S. China "B" received a setback at the hands of well-balanced Eastern Three low-scoring draws featured among the other games team. In which the Clab was the only other loser. A full programme of Division matches was played and football fans were well pro- vided with excitement.

Although a pick Chinese side put up a brilliant show in the Lai Wah Cup match yesterday, they could not stave off' a defeat at the hands of the Army elaven who scored a 3-2 vic- tory after a hard fought game packed with fast and thrifting football.

Macgregor's rebord-breaking Australian pony, Strathroy, broke the record for one and a quarter milles at the Thirteenth Extra Race meeting at Happy Valley on Saturday, when, ridden by Mr. Donald Black, in the Queensland 'Autumn Champions, she covered the distance in two minutes 10.4/5 secs. Incidentally, Mr. Bläck slao rođe a winner on Diogenes in the Dilatory Handicap, and by virtue of this win became the Diogenes paid $25.40 champion Jockey for the racing season.
