RING FORCED OFF WOMAN'S FINGER
Two armed robberies, one we curring in a shop in Au Tàu, Now Territories district, and the other in a Yat in Shamshulpo, engaged the attention of Criminal Investigation Department officers yesterday,
Tang Tong, 54 years, shop ac- countant, living at 52. Ying Lung Wal, Au Tau, reported to the po- Lce that he and his wife were asleep in a side cubicle when he reard the noise of a person push- ing open the cubicle door. He awakened and saw three men en- ter. One of the intruders flashed B torch on Tang while another drew a revolver and pointed at him at the same time telling hira not to move or make a noise. The rubber who was armed with a re- volver then asked Tang for his money and Tang replied that he had none. Tang was guarded while two of the robbers made a search of the cuticle.
From under Tang's pillow they took $40 in Hong Kong bank notes and a further $240 was garnered from under his wife's pillow.
The maurauders then proceeded up to the cockloft and from & wooden box they extracted several articles of jewellrey including two pairs of rattan bangles mounted with gold in three parts, valued at $600, and from a shelf above his bed was taken a gold wrist watch, valued at $60.
The value of the property stolen was estimated at $750.
.. When the robbers had completed their search they tled Tang and his wife with strings and then made their getaway.
The robbers remained in the shop for one and a half hours leaving about 245 a.m.
Tang adds in his report that while the robbers were in his pre-
malses he heard voices outside the door speaking in a similar dialect as the robbers.
An old grey felt hat left behind by one of the gang was found the cubicle by the police.
WOMAN ROBBED
The victim of the second rob- bery was Li Sau, 53, married wo- man, of 134, Yu Chan Street, first floor, Shamshulpo district.
She reported to the police that at 12.30 p.m. she was lying on her bed when she heard the boswick gate being opened... When she was. about to leave her cubicle, two men, wearing European style Jackets, one of whom was armed with a dagger, suddenly appeared and caught hold of her.

These are but a few" of the blographical notes against Pro- fessor Temperley's name. He is an apparently unassuming man and one would hardly find him even in a small crowd. I located him in the Gloucester Hotel Ball- room after I had visited his room to find him out and so we moved into the lounge, for our talk.
