"Modern, Psychology in Relation to Family Life" was the subject of the Rev. G. F. Allen's talk at the Christian Fellowship Meeting held in the Helena May Institute yes- terday morning. In which he dealt with the growing mind of the child. The speaker, former Fellow and Chaplain of Lincoln College, Oxford, is now working under the Church Missionary Society at the Union Theological College in Can-

To-day the forward trend of science has moved from the study of the animal to the more thorough study
of the soul of man.
In regard to the child, ex- pertence has taught us that the period from birth to the age of five or six is the reservoir out of which character emerges. In our responsibilities for these years we are co-partners with God. It is Interesting 10 look back on our childhood days and see the pat-
terns with which we are formed. Our first memories are a clue to our character traits.

Secondly, with his equals in the nursery the child is imbued with the importance of his position in the family circle. Either he has tendency to be jealous or asser tive of his own rights, or he has a tendency to be inferior and then be filled with rebellion or love of power born from this inferiority, All his characteristics will reflect his peculiar position in the family constellation.
