Association's First Annual Dinner
OUTSTANDING SUCCESS
The first annual dianer of the Hong Kong Rifle Association was held in the Peninsula Hotel inst night and was attended by a very distinguished and representative gathering of over 270 members and friends. The function was an outstanding success. Major B. D. Walker, M.C., President of the Association, presided and those pre- sent Included 'Their Excellencies the Governor, Sir Andrew Calde- cott, the Commander-in-Chief, Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Little, the General Officer Commanding, Majar-General A. W. Bartholomew, and Kear-Admiral C. G. Sedgwick, Hon. Mr. N. L. Smith (Colonia! Secretary) and.. Hon. Mr. "T. H. King (Inspector General of Police)..
Replying to the toast of the Association, which was proposed by Sir Andrew Caldecott, the President, in the course of his speech, referred to the growth of the Association, and, the forthcoming opening of the Association's new pavilion.
We claim that rife shooting is a hobby or sport or a form of recreation, call it what you will, which is of national. importance and which must therefore take precedence over other forms of sport or recreation." remarked Major Walker.
