One record was equalled on Saturday at the Tenth Extra Rare Meeting of the Hong Kang Jockey Club when Mr. S. C. Llang on Fer- fect Day, sprang a surprise and won the Cantala Handleap for Australian poules in 1 min. 17 2/5 secs. over six furiongs, He paid the second highest dividend of the day ($33.60) which, on the whole were, remarkably small. The highest ($59.40) was paid by Tyňa (Mr. S. E. Yuen) in the fifth race (Kent, Handicap) over six furlongs for China ponles.

Some keen finishes were wit- nessed. bus the attendance was the glorious poor in spite of weather, and. this might be attri buted to the small entries for many of the events an the pro- gramme.

Mr. S. C. Liang with three wins was the most successful jockey, followed by Mr. D. Black with two wins

The "Dally Double" paid $287.80. sixty-one tickets being sold on the first leg, and only 11 on second.

The band of the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Welch Fusillers, by kind permission of Lieut-Col D. M Bärchard and officers, played a pleasing programme of music.

Stx starters got away to splendid start with Oak Bay in the lead, followed by Gladiator, Wild Life King's Warden and Oak Bay increased her lead to two lengths, and going up the incline this pony was still running strong- ly. Round the Village bend she was leading by three lengths..

Gladiator who was nicely placed with the rest of the field came into the homie stretch full of spirit and passed the "leader some 100 yards from the pcst. Oak Bay, was obviously "all out" and could not stave off the challenge. Cos sack's Beauty finished strongly but Liang had left it a little too late and was "pipped" by Oak Bay into third place. The former carried the public's money.

Tyne paid $59.40 for its wa- the highest oividend of the day.

However Bear Claw with only half a length lead from Honeymoon Eve- :at the Rock, steadily increased the lead round the bend and into the home stretch. Black actually eased his mount `up win comfortably. Honeymoon Eve, came ta next, many lengths ahead of King's Bear Claw who won in the Lead previous two meets, gave ample evidence of its superiority by the easy manner in which it won on Baturday,

KENT HANDICAP * The first leg of the Dally Double" saw eleven starters the second largest neid of the day. Tyne led at the start with King's Bounty and Great Hall next. Past the Rock that order was kept. the home straight Tyne led by zome lengths from King's Bounty and came in first full of spirit, though challenged at the com mencement of the home straight-2nd Pony BL.Yuen, the jockey rode a well- judged race having gone to the post without a whip. King's Bounty came in second with High Honour a good third.
