Opening his case, Mr. Quirin June 17 about 7 stated that on p.m. the defendant was driving a taxi in Wanchai Road from the direction of Queen's Road East. At a point near, Triangular Street. the taxi suddenly swerved towards the right and and, knocked down the plaint who was standing on the gutter and he fell to the pavement. The only issue Was whether the taxi knocked down the child or the child ran into the taxi.

A series of enjoyable Sunday Evening Band Concerts were given at the Peninsula Hotel last season and these exceptionally popular functions are being provided again during the following colder muntha.
The first of these amenities will take place on “Armistice Sunday,” the 8th of November, and befitting the occasion a very special pro- gramme has been arranged, which by kind permission of Lieut.-Col. & C. Marsh, and Oncers the Band of the 2nd Battalion, The East Lancashire Regiment will play in the Hotel's spacious Lounge com- mencing at 9 p.
There is to be no admission charge and whilst accommodation will permit of a large gathering as hitherto it is desirable for early at- tendance to be assured of seating arrangements.
