SPORTS PROMOTER ACQUITTED

1

Paris, Oct. 27. Jeft Dickson, the British sports promoter, has been acquitted on the charge preferred against him here of stealing documents from the desk of the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bailu- ! Palais des Sports, Flerre

teaud, who died on September 28, 1933.

When first charged, Dickson pleaded not guilty and indignantly denied any connection with the matter.

The prosecution alleged that the documents missing, were Ballu- teaud's will, private account book, receipt for advances to the Com- pany and a private letter to be handed to his widow in case of his death.. Reuter

The events are (a) Team Race, (b) Life Saving. (c). Breast Stroke. (4) Back Stoke, and (e) Brigade Championship.

Last year the Indian Division had the somewhat unique distinction of winning all events.

The trophies which are held by the winners for one year are his- totic, and bear the names of the "holders from the year 1916, when a St. John Ambulance' Brigade was formally inaugurated.

The Ellis Kadoorie Shield pre- 'sented by the late Bir Eilis Kadoorie (prior to receiving the honour of kuighthood) is for Team Race.

The Ho Tung Challenge Cup for life Saving.

The Ho Brothers Challenge Cup to the winner of the Brigade Cham- pionship.

The Nam Yeung and the Chan Chan Nam's Cups are for the win- ners of the Back and Breast Strokes. respectively.

The Sir Paul Chater Shield-is held by the division which secures the highest number of points at the meeting-3, 2. or 1 points being counted for the first, second or third place in each event.

The following training times were recorded at the gallops at

ONE-SIDED VICTORY

In the inter-section "Knock-out” tournament of the HK, Bockey Association, the Argonauta played the Kowloon Indian Tennis Cluo yesterday at Marina Ground and won by the margin of three goals to nil after a hard fought match

The Portuguese opened the scor. ing through their concerted efforts from the start of the game. An- gelo made the only score in the first half of the game by a tricky play, and was most persistently in the forefront with his neat stick- work

"

Souza. the Portuguese goal- keeper, made a magnificent save. as did Pinto; the full back of the Indians. when he blocked the ball just in front of his own goal when: the goalkeeper was not there.

The Portugese put up such a good defence that the Indians did not penetrate their side of the feld in the second half until about ten minutes before the end of the match

Gasano scored the second goal for the Argonauta and al- though darkness, was setting in by that time. B. Ogsang added the third goal for the, vi:tora.

The Indians made every effort In the near-darkness to even the score, but falled.

Capt. G. W. P. Kimm refereed the garne, and he sighted many "sticks," which was the only fea- that marred an otherwise ture well-played game.
