Catholic Celebration At
Cathedral
A
The Feast of the Regalty of Our Lord was celebrated at the pro- Catholic Cathedral, Cains Road, yesterday when, after cession in the Cathedral Compound. 'in which all the Catholic soc etios of Hong Kong and Catholic students of various local schools took part, the following sermon, in part, was preached by the Rev. H. Crate. S. J-
CHRIST THE KING When talking of Christ's king- ship we often use the word in an other than its literal sense. Thus we say Christ is the King of the minds of men because of His Wis- dom and Knowledge. By this we imply that His rule should obtain "la the minds of all so that St. Paul's words 'Let that mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus may be true of all So, too, we we speak of Him as the Ruler of the wills of men because of the harmony that exists between His Will and God's Will, and because from him comes the attractive force which moves our wills to We also speak of noblest effort. Him as King, of all hearts because
that of His Love
surpasseth Knowledge, of his meekness" and kindness which draw all hearts to Him: 'For never
been has it granted to anyone, and never shull it be granted to any to be loved so much and so universally as Jesus Christ has been loved and shall be loved"

use
the In all these cases word king in an applied sense. That is, we say that of all the good He is the best and, therefore, wields that quasi-kingship which the best man, in intellect, heart and will, among good men, has. The Kingship of Christ, however, is more than a superiority of ex- cellence; it is a literal fact, By saying that I do not mean that because He 1s God He is King. That is obvious, for, as such, He is the Supreme Ruler. I mean that as man he is, in the literal sense of the word, King.
This is clear from the Scriptures for it is only as man that he car be said to receive power, and glory and kingdom, As God He
has all these in common with the Father and Holy Ghost. He is spoken of as the Ruler who shall arise out of Jacob, King of Sion: In his days shall justice spring up and abundance of peace, and He shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth."

THE PRINCE OF PEACE So was the King who was come described in the prophecies From them it is clear that is kingship and kingdom, are real though different from the blood- stained ones of earth. He is to be wise and prudent, the Prince of Peace, lowly and gentle in charac- ter yet strong in action. His Kingdom is to be an Eternal one and in it there shall be justice and stained ones of earth. He is to be judgment for all, and above all it shall be a peaceful Kingdom. The reality was not different trom the vision. Gabriel, God's ΓΟΥΡ Herald, in slightly different words portrays the same thing.
When the Child was born wise men came from a distant country seeking Him who was born King for they had seen His star in the East and had come to adore Him. Lacer He claimed the power of Kingship for He spoke of Himself com.ng in His Majesty and all the angels with Him and sitting upon the seat of His Majesty and all nations gathered before Elm while He separated the good, from the bad. When He was on trial for His Life He acknowledges that He claimed to be King.

Thus Christ is our King, with a right that does not come from being for Alameda Awport in Call-
fornia. low but from above. If then, He be our King it follows that He has! power over us to rule us for our good. To lay down faws for us. His subjects, to judge whether we have kept them and to execute us. That this judgment upon Kingdom is spiritual is clear from Christ's words and actions; that His power is exercised in a spiritual way 1s also clear. Thus He speaks of His Kingdom as not of this world. He points out that His Kingdom is opposed to that of Satan, that there can never be anything but war between the two that the final victory of His forces is as- sured that though King of all men by right. still He deigns to ask their free service.
Saturday proved Tack's busiest, for less minutes after the departure of the
ways Corporation planes arrived Cupper, two China National Air-IN from Canton.
PROMISE OF REWARDS
He does not minimise the hard- ships and dangers, but promises to all a sure and certain reward. His subjects are called upon to be detached from riches and earthly things, so that these things do not prevent their service, or cause them to betray their Lord. They are called upon to hunger and shirst after justice, that is to de- sire to do the good and to make themselves better by so doing Finally they are called upon to deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Him, that is, they must exercise at least the amount of self-control necessary for the obeying of the
commandments
That will be the test of their sex- vice....
But keyi kings he has special rewards for special services and so He invites those who wish to be generous in their services to strive after higher things.
He goes before. He leads His armles and gives them the exam- ple that as He has done so they may do likewise. He shares with them the hardships of life.
One, a machine employed on the Canton-Shanghai service, carried the first four paying passengers to travel from Canton to Hong Kong in a commercial plane.
The first CN.A.C. machine re- mained only a few minutes, de- parting for Shanghal with its 'pas- Bengers at 8.5 alm. In addition to the four passengers brought from Canton, thê C.N.A.C. machine took Mr.
Roy Howard, the famous American newspaper magnate and Mr. John Morris, manager in China of "United Press," both of whom had arrived on Friday by the Clipper.
It was over an hour before the second CN.A.C. machine took off for Shanghai, with Mr. Juan Trippe, Managing Director of Pan American Airways, and Mrs. Trippe, Mr. and Mrs. C. V.. Wait- neg. Mr. P. Patterson and Mr. E M. Bixby aboard, «
