Apart from the entertainment provided by Max Malini, there was dancing 11 abundance throughout the evening. Parti cularly enterta ning was a Paul Jones which was danced, with a vigour feminiscent of the good odhopa" where partners really danced urstend of gliding over a polished floor like a collection of sleep-walkers. This Paul Jones9 kept everyone very much awake, and that it-and the dancera- "stayed the course" for twenty minutes is proof that the jolly folk of the Kowloon Cricket Club take and like their pleasure in full measure.

Who will deny that one of "Al's" famous cocktails is like an all- route ticket to Happiness on the Omnibus of Exhilaration? "Al" has a neat philosophy. It is sum-. med-up thus: "You're A long time dead, therefore, whilst alive be thoroughly alive."
Well, the nappy throng at thế Gripps on Saturday night com- prised those who apparently shared "Al's" philosophy, for they made a very gay even ng of it. If

Mr. W. H. C. Robson, formerly of the Kowloon Docks, where he served his apprenticeship 25 a Colony. He has secured employ- youth, will not be returning the

Mr. Robson's absence from the Colony will mean a keen loss to St. Andrew's Church where he was a Warden for many years and also, THE GLOUCESTER

The crowd there on Saturday night was greater than ever, and the cabaret turns were on the highest plane of entertainment. Queenie, David and the giric:

If such were the case. Mr. Potts would have ample supplies of food and water on board to last over his enforced stay on, the Mistral. An attempt by the "Hong Kong Cally Press" to get through by phone to the Cheung Chau Island police station was met by the laconic reply from the telephone operator. "Line out of order.”
The authorities are not. per- turbed, for they state that if any- thing had happened to the Mis- trai near Cheung Chau, the station there would communicate by wire- less with the Water Police station. If Mr. Potts has made for shelter during the night at Cheung Chau, the mere fact of his having done so would not necessitate a wireless mesange to this effect being sent to Kowloon.

LATE RETURN Later: Mr. J. H. Potts, in the Facht Mistral, returned to the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club shortly before 9.45 p.m., having en- countered trouble in making head- way, because of the falling off of sufficient..winds. It was stated.

The cause of the outbreak has been established from the fusing of electric wires.
An appliance from the Central Fire Brigade. under the charge of Assistant Station Officer C. Browne was first on the scene and did yeoman service in curtailing the extent of the conflagration. Three other appliances followed B000 after, and operations were under the direction of Mr. H. T. Brooks, Superintendent of the Fire Bri- gade, who was assisted, by other European station officers.
Seven minutes after the fire was Agst noticed, the Emergency Unit of the Hong Kong Follee Force. under Sub-Inspector R. J. Hunt
were on the scene and rendered valuable assistance in managing the crowd that had gathered.
A Police guard was later furnish ed and normal traffic was resumed in the evening.
