This ingenious device for launch- ing a fast, heavily loaded scaplane in mid air from the back of a big- ger machine should give some Te- markable results if it proves suc cessful. It is required to have a range of 2,000 miles against a 60- mile-an-hour wind while carrying a payload of 1,000lb. Not only are these requirements likely to be met, but the payload will probably amount to nearly 2,000lb, Accord- ing to careful calenlations, this seaplane might make the double Journey across the Atlantic having. a headwind in one direction and a tailwind in the other of s velocity. of 40 miles an hour, with a load of petrol which would cost only' £63.-| If these expectations are realized this will be by far the most econo-
