Handsome Dividend In Third Race

It is hard to imagine a more perfect day for the racegoers The Macao who attended the Macao Race Meeting yesterday. Steamship put on the Kinshan, but Hong Kong with the assis- tance of Manila seems to have blossomed out again and the re- sult was a full ship.

1.

We hope that for the next meeting, if matters are as rosy as they are now, the Tal Shan will be put in the festive run. There is no doubt that the Hong Kong rücegoers at Macao be- lleve in no hail measures and it is an unusual matter that in practically every race the totalisator tickets taken for a win were some 80 per cent. higher than those taken for a place. Judea in the 3rd Race who was third paid the handsome sum of $42 for a $5 bet.

The turf was in excellent condi- tlon and the going very good. Damage done by the typhoon had all been repaired and the track was

it ne shape for the meeting

The Racing was good and the Mr. Lan's Valley View, 155 lbs.

felds were a great improvement on the last few meetings.

The big sweep with $1.276 for the winner was the reason of the great interest in the 4th race which was won by Mr. G. H. Potts' Brown. Eve. In connection with this the following notice was posted up: "Special Sweep prizes will be pald in the Hong Kong office on Mon- day, September 14, 1938." So will the lucky winners step up there please.

The Ladies' race attracted a lot nt attention as usual, the St.

George's Riding School having a closed race to themselves. Might we suggest that for the next Macao Meeting they include a Ladles Race but let it be an open event.

Everybody was very pleased to see Mr. G. H. Potts back, having returned a few days ago by the Empress of Canada.

Most of the old racegoers were there but we missed Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell of Loxley's, Commander and Mrs. Newell. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Babe Charles, and Gilbert and Harriman.

A careful perusal of the tips in the "Hong Kong Daily Press" last Saturday would have considerably enhanced one's winning. The best tip of the day was Judea for a place in the 3rd Race, the totalisa- Lor paid $42 which was the highest of the day.
